IUE-CWA, the Industrial Division of the Communications Workers of America, is currently seeking a staff counsel with three (3) or more years of experience, which could include significant non-legal labor movement work, such as union representative, organizer, local officer or business agent. The staff counsel will assist IUE-CWA staff in all traditional labor and employment law areas (NLRA, LMRDA, FMLA, etc.), and will work on collective bargaining and troubleshooting difficult bargaining relationships. Experience navigating negotiations and a working knowledge of offensive bargaining is a plus. The Communications Workers of America, AFL-CIO, is seeking qualified candidates for a one-year Legal Fellowship beginning in September, 2015. Recent law graduates and third-year law students with a demonstrated interest in working on union-side legal issues involving organizing, collective bargaining, contract enforcement and related matters are encouraged to apply. CWA represents workers in both the public and private sectors throughout the United States and Canada. Our members work in a variety of industries, including telecommunications, airline, manufacturing, and media. The Fellow will provide legal assistance and support to CWA officers, Districts and Sectors on projects and/or special assignments, including organizing campaigns, legislative projects and corporate campaigns. The Fellow may assist with arbitration and litigation involving CWA-represented workers, as well as NLRB or other administrative agency proceedings.
